Sandhya Mridul: Don’t aim to always see women over made up

While most Indian actresses are clad in make-up in films and shows, Sandhya says that women do not wear cosmetics all the time off-screen.

“It is not aspirational to always see women over made up. We are just being real. Women do not put make up all the time. When I get out of bed, I don’t look like this at all,” said Sandhya.

Addressing the issue wherein actresses in Bollywood are criticised if they go under the knife, the “Page3” actress shared that this is nothing but “dichotomy”.

“The irony is that the women in Bollywood have been told for a very long time that if you don’t have big b**bs, you are not going to be a heroine,” the 40-year-old said.

“You are making the women feel that if you have big b**bs you can be a heroine, but at the same time making them feel that ‘oh you have a job!’. What are women supposed to do? If we don’t do it, we are criticised for it and if we do it, we are still crticised for it,” she added.

“Angry Indian Goddesses”, which is touted as India’s first ‘female buddy’ film, also features actresses Sarah-Jane Dias, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Rajshri Deshpande and Adil Hussain.
